Years before Warren Buffett became the richest investor in the world. He was a young student at Columbia and he wanted to learn about an insurance business that his mentor, Ben Graham, was part of. So one Saturday he went to the insurance company and it was closed. Undeterred he banged on the door until a janitor let him in and took him to the only person working that day, a high up investment officer, Warren proceeded to ask many questions and really demonstrated a profound willingness to understand the insurance business. So much so that they ended up talking for 5 hours.

The desire to be understood is a key trait of all human beings. Remember this in your day to day interactions, both professional and personal, and if you want someone to explain something to you, show them you genuinely care to understand.
